Best Music Videos of 2011

Hey yall,

Welcome to the first Tuesday Blog of 2012! (I actually just wrote 2011, and had to go back to change it… I’ll probably be doing that until May).

EDIT: HEY I JUST REALIZED THIS IS THE 200th BU CENTRAL BLOG POST – SAY WHAAAATTT!?!?!

It’s already been a month, but I think it’s appropriate to take one last look back at 2011. Here are some of my picks, in no particular order,  for the Best Music Videos of 2011. Also, I’m going to link you to the video instead of embedding it on here, since this blog already loads waayy to slowly!

1) Duck Sauce – Big Bad Wolf

First of all, Duck Sauce is awesome. Second of all, they have heads instead of genitalia. WARNING: Might be NSFW! Although I’m not really sure…

2) LMFAO – Sexy and I know It

I’ve blogged about this video before because I find it so hilarious. RedFoo and SkyBlu shake their stuff, a bit too much in my opinion, but hey, at least they work out.

3) Katy Perry – Last Friday Night

Katy perry brings together Blaine and Artie from Glee, Rebecca Freaking Black, Hanson, Kenny Mother Flippin’ G, and Corey Feldman(did you catch the references the Lost Boys?) to make an awesomely star-filled music video.

4) Rihanna – We Found Love ft. Calvin Harris

This video tells the story about how doing drugs and drinking alcohol will lead to awesome concerts, technicolor cigarettes, and bathing with your clothes and shoes still on. I think that’s what it was supposed to be about…

5) Beastie Boys – Make Some Noise

The only video that could possibly fit in more celebrities than Katy Perry’s. To name just a few of the famous faces you’ll see: Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Susan Sarandon, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Ted Danson, Roman Coppola, Steve Buscemi, Amy Poehler, Alicia Silverstone, Kirsten Dunst, Maya Rudolph, David Cross, Orlando Bloom, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black… That’s about 1/2 of them.

PS: The link above is just the music video. For the Full, 30-min video, click here.

6 ) Superchunk – Crossed Wires

Cute kitten video! That is, it’s a video made by a cute kitten, who, actually turns out to be a complete badass. You’ll see what I mean.

7) Foo Fighters -Walk

A video about the worst day ever. ever.

8) Is Tropical – The Greeks

When I was a kid, I used to have pretend firefights with my friends and toy guns. But it was never quite as awesome as this!

So There you have it, my picks for some of the best music videos of last year. I’m interested to know what your favorite video of last year was. Comment on this post and tell me!

‘Til next time,
Tim

Random Music Video Wednesday!

Hello, Everybody!

So I wanted to write a blag today with a relevant theme and make it all nice and whatnot, but that idea really didn’t pan out. Today is hump day, and honestly, I don’t have the energy to write an awesomely well thought out blog today. I bet you feel pretty much the same right now, huh? I bet that what you really want to do right now is to watch some awesome, possibly funny videos, and then maybe take a well deserved nap. Welp, I think that is a great idea! I’ve been doing some research for you friends, and I’ve found some stuff that I think you’ll really take a liking to… So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

1) Kid Cudi – Day ‘N’ Night

I’ve heard this song a bajillion times, but I’ve never seen this video. Maybe it’s just because I’m a sucker for some good animation, but this was surprisingly amazing.

2) LMFAO – Sexy and I Know It

WARNING: SHOCKINGLY AWKWARD, YET KINDA HILARIOUS CONTENT AHEAD. You have been warned…

3) Its Time for the Perculator

These guys can seriously move. And this song goes better with their dancing than the original one (at least I think so). Prepare to slightly chuckle your face off!

I hope that this has helped give you the energy you need to push through today, and make it over the the other side of the hump (day, that is)!

Live long and prosper,

Ode to the Mashup

But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and mashups are the sun!

Ok, I’ve caught the mashup love bug! A little late perhaps, but better late then never. I think some of my fellow BUC staffers have blogged about mashups before, so if you think this isn’t original, you may be correct. But lately I’ve been sorta kinda addicted to these bad boys.

Anywhoozles, the point of this blag is to share some of  most flavorite mashups (thats my favorite songs with the sickest flavor). Ok here we go:

1) Warp A Milli (Lil Wayne vs. Bloody Beetroots)

This one is by far my favorite. It takes Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli” and lays it over the Bloody Beetroots’ “Warp 1.9″. I really love the Bloody Beetroots, and I think that the lyrics go perfectly with the song. Listen and judge for yourself:

2) Show Me One (Michael Mind vs. Swedish house Mafia)

You can make an amazing cocktail by adding three parts Michael Mind’s amazing house track “Show Me Love” to “One” part Swedish House Mafia (haha! See what I did there? The song is called “One”… get it?! Man I crack myself up sometimes!). Shake well, serve loud!

3) Bass Kick In Miami (DJ Chuckie vs. LMFAO)

This was just a match made in heaven. DJ Chuckie and LMFAO team up to create this seriously bada*s song. Its LMFAO’s “I’m In Miami Bi***” and DJ Chuckie’s “Let the Bass Kick”. Both of the original songs are some of my favorites but when you combine them they sort of feed off each other and become better than they ever were by themselves.

4) Intergalactic Rock (Beastie Boys vs. Daft Punk)

Since I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys (yeah my parents were that cool), this one brings back some good memories. This song is a mashup between The Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic” and Daft Punk’s “Around the World”. This one starts off slow, and honestly the first time I listened to it I didn’t really like it. But I’m still putting it on this list because it grew on me since then.

5) Britney Spears – 3 (Wolfgang Gartner Remix)

Ok so this one is not a mashup, its a remix. But I need to blag about it because I never ever thought I would be enjoying listening to a Britney Spears song. That is until Wolfgang here came along and made it listenable. Here’s his version of 3 by Britney:
3 (Wolfgang Gartner Extended Mix)

You may already Wolfgang Gartner from this song, Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony: Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony

Ok kids, I hope you enjoyed these songs. Have a great weekend!

Turn On, Tune In, [Turn Up], Drop out
