Remembering Freddie Mercury

Music fans and google users know that today would have been Freddie Mercury’s 85th birthday.

Lead singer of Β the eternally loved rock band Queen, Mercury was known for his flamboyant stage presence, powerful vocals (4 octave range!!), and deep lyrics. Mercury was titled ” Britian’s first Asian Rock Star”, one of the most influencial Asian leaders of all time, one of the greatest male singers of all time, and one of Rock’s all-time greatest performers by the media and fans alike.

Unfortunately, his life and the potential of his talent was cut short when Mercury died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS, the day after releasing his condition to the public. He was 45 yrs old.

In celebration of his worldwide influence here are some of Queen’s greatest hits.

A tribute by Young the Giant – appearing on campus THIS THURSDAY Sept. 8th at Metcalf Hall in the George Sherman Union. Show starts at 9pm!!
