Less Is More

Hello all,

Every now and then, a song will come along that completely takes over my life for a week or so (as in, if I didn’t wear headphones while listening in my room, my roommates would kill me for listening to the same song over and over again). The common theme for these three songs, besides the fact that they all fit that criteria, is that they all make a lot out of a little. The first one up is a performance by Bruce Hornsby, an incredibly talented pianist who only needs a piano and a microphone to sing into (as well as some quality showmanship) :

Next is John Hiatt, who decides with this song that just a few chords are all he’ll need to make some awesome music:

And last, but not least, is this cover of  Leonard Cohen’s classic Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. It’s just the man and his guitar, but he manages to put forth a performance that’s simultaneously haunting and beautiful:
